Ep 255 – Charity Concert in memory of Nicky James and Mary Holder’s 100th birthday!

This week…

In Part 1, Nathan Carter headlines a concert at the Liverpool Irish Centre. The performance, to celebrate the life of Nicky James, is a fundraiser for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Nathan was a good friend of Nicky’s and had wanted to organise this event for some time. Nicky was a popular musician, often entertaining at the Liverpool Irish Centre.

With a line up including Claudia Buckley, Louise Rogan and Paul Wright, it’s a great evening of popular music.
Nicky James’ daughter, Louie also performs with her band Guise and talks fondly about her dad.

Lots of music tracks to sing along with all for a good cause.

In Part 2, we meet Mary Holder. In 1922, George V was king of England, the BBC was formed but more importantly, Mary Holder was born. We were invited to join Mary as she celebrated her 100th birthday along with family and friends.

Age is just a number and Mary demonstrates this with ease. A positive outlook on life, a lively sense of humour and keeping busy are amongst the secrets of a long and healthy life. Mary travelled from Ireland when she was in her 20s and settled in the UK and now that she is 100 years young, is going back home for the “grand tour”.

Keep on dancing Mary!
