The Irish in the UK-Episode 240 – Bishop Challoner Catholic College & Stronger Together Bereavement Group

In Part 1..

We meet Eddie O’Connor, Assistant Head Teacher at Bishop Challoner Catholic College. The college actively involves students in community projects and we reflect on their Christmas “shoe-box” appeal. Also, they’re talented children and we see and hear some of their performances. Ger Noone heads up PE and we celebrate sporting success through the college and their strong links with local GAA clubs.

In Part 2..

Nearly 2 years ago, Kim Gaughan’s husband suddenly passed away. Together for 39 years, Kim and Brendan “were two peas in a pod”. Kim struggled to deal with her bereavement and found the available counselling difficult to engage with. She decided that the way forward was to form her own bereavement group run by and for people in her situation. With help from Deacon Jim Hannigan from Holy Family & St. John’s the Apostle churches in Luton, Kim is now helping many people to deal with something that is so difficult to cope with alone.
