The Irish in the UK – Ep 246 – The reopening of the Irish World Heritage Centre, PADIS and JF Kennedy’s GAA football club

This week…

Closed throughout much of the pandemic, we’re at the grand reopening of the Irish World Heritage Centre. We meet the team that have brought the building back to scratch and celebrate the return to “normal” with Sarah Mangan, Consul General for Ireland, cutting the ribbon. After being used by the NHS, it’s great to see the Irish community pulling together, helping to return this building back to its intended use.

Pendle and District Irish Society, PADIS, celebrates 25 years serving the community. We spend the day with them chatting to members and friends. It’s a family thing at Pendle and District and we meet one of the oldest members! Music and happiness keeping the Irish traditions alive and well in Nelson.

And finally, we’re in Leeds at the JF Kennedy GAA football club to meet the under 13 & under 15 teams as they prepare for their tour to Ireland at Easter. Fundraising, exercise and music too!
