The Irish in the UK-Episode 233- The Kerry Association annual dinner-dance in London

This week, we’re in London for the annual Kerry Association dinner-dance. The fun had to stop last year, but now they’re up and running!
Dáithí Ó Sé of RTE’s “Today” programme hosts the evening along with strong committee of the Association.

The Kerry Association has a long history of charity fundraising and this year is no exception. For one cause alone, they raised £40,000. Nicole Hurley was killed in October this year. The money raised will go towards helping her four children.

As Fr. John Aherne says.. “the Irish rally to the cause everytime”.

Guests include Senator Mark Daly and Noel O’Sullivan from the GAA Provincial Council of Britain

Sisters, Shilagh McCarthy and Theresa McCarthy-Dixon receive the honour of Kerryperson of the year for their charitable support of their local community. Former Kerryperson of the year, Dan Tim O’Sullivan is there to congratulate the sisters for the great work they do.

With music from the Barry Owen Band and dancing from Joe McGeown, the two times world champion, it’s an evening that rockets by!
