In Part 1, we are at the Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester at an event organised by the Irish Consulate. We talk to the Consul, Sarah Mangan and Vice Consul Carina O’Brien. We are also joined by the new Irish Ambassador to the UK, Martin Fraser.
The event entitled Community, Connectedness and Sustainability was organised to bring Irish community leaders together, to share ideas and to look to the future.
In Part 2, we round off our visit to the Irish World Heritage Centre and then move across to Birmingham to meet John Fitzgerald and Marie Farrell, daughter of Brendan Farrell. Brendan was a well-known and popular character of Birmingham life. All his life, he had supplied content for the Irish Post, and was known to everyone in the Irish community. Sadly, he passed away just a few weeks ago.
John Fitzgerald is well known for running the traditional Irish shop at the old Birmingham Irish Centre and for organising concerts featuring A List performers.
