Ep 283 – It’s the Luton Mayo Association Annual Dinner Dance

This week on The Irish in The UK..

We’re in Luton celebrating 28 years of their Mayo Association Annual Dinner Dance.

From humble beginnings in the 1960s, in a pub on Park Street, to where they are now, the Luton Mayo Association has established itself as one of the most successful Irish Associations in the UK.

One of the two surviving Irish Associations in Luton, the Mayo along with Leitrim Association both have progressive committees with forward looking strategies.

We chat with Joe Cruise, Eamon Dixon and a host of Mayo Association members along with some guests from Associations near and far.

Joe Murphy and Tom Beisty pay a visit from the London Mayo Association along with Marie and Michael Gilmartin from the Luton Leitrim Association.

We meet all the people that drive events like this forward, accompanied by great music from Theresa Rodgers.

Luton Mayo Association are also amazing fundraisers and we get to see some big money being handed out to local charities.

Lots of music, dancing and stories from days gone by.
