This week on the Irish in the UK, we have a theme of 50!

In Part 1… We meet up with Jimmy Cricket as he prepares to celebrate 50 years of laughter. He’s certainly had a fantastic career and many adventures along the way. We join him at the Plaza in Stockport and get the inside stories. Do you remember his appearance on “This is Your Life”? It’s one of the few moments that silenced him! It wasn’t just the shock of Eamon Andrews presenting the big red book! And speaking of books, Jimmy’s got one on the way too. It’s a nostalgic look back to a different time!

In part 2… completing this week’s “50” theme, we’re at the Bowling Green in Chorlton, Manchester. A regular venue for traditional Irish music, it’s also the location for Grace Kelly’s big birthday celebrations. Grace has been a fixture of the Irish music scene for many years and is a regular performer at the Bowling Green. We meet up with her and many other great performers for an evening of lively music and chat. Grace’s brother, John Joe Kelly, is one of the most well-known bodhrán players and also joins Grace and friends for the evening.
