In Part 1… As many people struggle to pay bills and keep on top of what support they can get in these difficult times, Irish Community Care is there to help. This charitable service can help with claiming benefits and getting the financial support that you are entitled to. This can be at the centre or in your home. We speak to Patrick Rogers and Jordan Francis and find out what they do and how they can help you.
In Part 2… St Alphonsus Parish Centre in Manchester has been an essential hub for the Irish community for many years, but since Covid, the numbers have fallen. Like many centres established by the Irish decades ago, there just isn’t the foot fall anymore. While people struggle with their own finances, there is a knock on effect with local resources. St Alphonsus is one of those centres feeling the impact and as Ricky Davis, Operations Director for Social Centres explains; “if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it!”.
The centre provides a great location for events and is home to the Old Trafford Amateur Boxing Club. We chat to Kevin Williams from the boxing club and find out just how big a contribution this venue makes.
Can you help support this venue?
