Ep 362 – Yorkshire Rose of Tralee Selection at Leeds Irish Centre

This week, we’re at the Irish Centre in Leeds for the selection of Yorkshire’s Rose of Tralee entrant.

The Rose of Tralee Festival has been in existence for 65 years and is still going strong. Hosted by Tommy McLoughlin, we met up with the ten potential Yorkshire Roses and found out just what it takes to become the Yorkshire representative at Tralee.

The Rose Festival has moved with the times and welcomes entrants aged 18 – 29 years who are proud of their Irish heritage. You have to be kind, caring, willing to make new friends and proud of your Irishness, that’s all that matters!

The event, organised by Christine Walker, was attended by Sarah Mangan, Consul General of Ireland to the North of England and had special surprise guest Anthony O’Gara, the CEO of the Rose Festival along with his wife Una.

Lots of entertainment and ultimately the announcement of this year’s Yorkshire Rose.
