In Part 1… We’re with Chris Boland at the Liverpool Irish Centre, welcoming Spink Laois Comhaltas, as they spend a few days away from Ireland in Merseyside.
Chris, as the Chairman of the Liverpool Comhaltas Branch, organised this event along with his Irish counterparts, Una Aylward and Genevieve Bennett.
This lively event packed with music and dance demonstrates just how popular traditional music is amongst the younger Irish generations, both here and across the Irish Sea.
In Part 2… Young at Heart Cafe is a non profit organisation that supports people with dementia and, as importantly, their families too. Caring for an elderly relative with dementia can have extreme challenges but Young at Heart is there to lend a supportive hand.
The aim of the weekly Cafe is to benefit both the person living with dementia and their primary/family carer so that social isolation can be lessened.
We speak to Patrice Doran and Mick Cassidy who both volunteer at Young at Heart and hear about how the syndicate behind the Black Swan in Luton support the work carried out by the organisation.
