Ep 406 – Pre St Patrick’s Day Celebrations and Paddy Kennedy Fundraiser

In Part 1… We’re guests of the Consul General of Ireland as we celebrate the run up to St Patrick’s Day.

Sarah Mangan and her team organised a cultural event attended by the great and good from the Irish community in the North of England.

The special celebration was supported by Kieran O’Donnell TD, Ireland’s Minister of State for Older People and Housing, who gave a speech about the contribution the Irish have given to the UK.

Traditional music was performed by harpists from the Royal Northern College of Music.

In Part 2… We’re with John Kennedy at a charity fundraising event in memory of his late father, Paddy Kennedy.

Paddy came to Manchester as a teenager in the 1950s and played for United, as one of the original “Busby Babes” but missed out on first team success due to injury.

The evening event also features a book launch, “How Unlucky Can You Be?”, written by Roy Cavanagh MBE which tells the fascinating story of Paddy’s life.

The charity evening is supported with music by Peter Mylett.
