In Part 1… We meet up with broadcaster and entertainer Mike Harding. Mike has Irish heritage and talks about growing up in the Irish community in Manchester and how being surrounded by traditional music influenced his career.
Now living in North Yorkshire, Mike talks about the “July Barbers”; Irish workers that travelled over for the harvest to “shave” the fields.
In Part 2… We spend time with Mae Dunne, originally from County Mayo, who is celebrating her 108th birthday. So many great stories to tell about growing up in rural Ireland and the sadness of leaving it behind for a new life in England.
Some great tales from her family and medals from the Irish government to celebrate every year beyond 100.
