Ep 456 – St Patrick’s Day Pre-celebrations in Manchester

This week’s programme captures the vibrant pre-celebrations of St Patrick’s Day in Manchester, bringing together prominent figures from across Ireland and the North of England. Hosted by Cillian O’Kelly, the Consul General of Ireland for the North of England, the events highlight the strong cultural and civic ties between the two regions.

Among the distinguished guests are Carmine Grimshaw, serving as Lord Mayor of Manchester, and John Cummins TD, Irish Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, alongside a wide array of VIPs from political, cultural, and community spheres.

The programme showcases a rich celebration of Irish heritage, featuring Harp performances from the Royal Northern College of Music and lively traditional dance by Scoil Rince Nua School of Irish Dance.

Through speeches, performances, and moments of shared celebration, we pay tribute to Irish culture, community spirit, and the enduring connections between the UK and Ireland in the lead-up to St Patrick’s Day.

Watch The Irish in the UK every Tuesday night at 8.00 pm on SKY 588, Freeview 279, YouTube and Facebook. Repeated on Sky and Freeview every Wednesday at 9.30 pm.
