In Part 1, we visit the Sundon Park Men’s Shed, officially opened by local MP Sarah Owen. We learn about the Men’s Shed movement, which provides a welcoming community space where men can meet, share skills, work on practical projects, and build friendships, helping to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing.
In Part 2, we speak to Maria Collins, a volunteer with the Young at Heart Dementia Café. Maria discusses the importance of maintaining mental stimulation and social engagement for people living with dementia, as well as the vital support the café offers to carers. She explains how activities, companionship, and community connections can enhance quality of life for both those affected by dementia and the people who care for them.
Both of these amazing resources are supported by the Luton Irish Forum
