Ep 479 – Raising Awareness of Prostate Cancer and Reflecting on 60 Years as a Priest.

In Part 1, we follow a charity golf day held at Moseley Golf Club in Birmingham, raising vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK. Organised by Sam Carter, the event brings together golfers and supporters for a day of sport, friendship and fundraising, while highlighting an important message about men’s health.

We talk with Gerald Collins, Consultant Urological Surgeon, who explains why it is so important for men to get tested for prostate cancer. He highlights how the tests are straightforward and can help detect the disease at an early stage, potentially saving lives.

The day of fundraising is designed to encourage men to be proactive about their health and to speak to their doctor if they have concerns.

In Part 2, we meet Father John Ahern as he reflects on an extraordinary 60 years as a priest. Father John shares the story of how he felt called to the priesthood and takes us through some of the experiences that have shaped his long and fulfilling vocation.

At the heart of the conversation is Father John’s deep affection for his parishioners and the many people he has met and supported throughout his years of ministry. His reflections offer a warm and personal insight into a lifetime dedicated to faith, community and serving others.
