Part 1 – We head to the beautiful Palm House in Liverpool, which plays host to the Liverpool Irish Festival. The event brings together the local Irish community and visitors for a wonderful celebration of Irish culture and heritage. With plenty of traditional Irish music, lively dancing and a fantastic atmosphere, we capture the spirit, energy and sense of community that make the festival such a special occasion.
Part 2 – In the second part of the programme, we are at the Irish Embassy, where Neale Richmond, Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, announces this year’s funding for the Emigrant Support Programme.
The Emigrant Support Programme is an initiative of the Irish Government, administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs, which provides financial assistance to voluntary and community organisations supporting Irish people and communities around the world.
Since its establishment in 2004, the programme has helped fund organisations delivering vital services to Irish emigrants, particularly older, vulnerable and isolated members of the community. It also supports projects that promote Irish culture, music, dance, heritage, community networks and the enduring connection between Ireland and its global diaspora.
